On Thursday, 16th April, SEA Design and The Foundry Types hosted, ‘Mr Gridnik at SEA exhibition’, at SEA’s studio in London. An exhibition to celebrate the unique 30-year collaboration between Wim Crouwel and The Foundry Types, which also coincided with The Foundry Types’ 35th birthday.

The exhibition displayed Wim Crouwel’s; Motherwell, Vormgevers and Job Hansen original posters, the original Fodor and Claes Oldenburg catalogues, as well as other printed material from their archives. The gallery space was further enhanced by showcasing nine (9) of The Foundry Types and Wim Crouwel collaborative type designs as posters, exclusively printed by Made by Team, with the paper kindly supplied by G.F Smith. The nine Crouwel typefaces can be seen and are available through our website.

SEA, also designed a stunning, special commemorative catalogue to document the nine typefaces on display, which was also printed and paper provided by Made by Team and G.F Smith respectively.

The one night only exhibition, attended by Wim Crouwel’s friends and enthusiasts, were treated to a fantastic evening for which I’m sure Wim would have been delighted. Mr Gridnik’s legacy, shows no sign of waning, interest in his work is as influential as ever.

A special thank you to Bryan Edmonson at Sea Design, Lauren Donnelly at G.F Smith Paper, Simon Bucktrout at Made by Team and David Bennett at Visuelle for their time, energy and generous kind support. And to all those people that came on the night – thank you for sharing a great night.
